Gail S. Omoto, director of research, evaluation and development for Tutu and Me, told a story yesterday at the state Capitol rotunda as community groups rallied against House Bill 2500, a plan to divert up to $27 million in federal Temporary Assistance for Needy Families funds, which community groups say would severely affect their services to low-income families and at-risk youth across the state. The rally included organizations such as Women in Need, Child Protective Services and Hale Kipa.
