Miss Hawaii ready for U.S. pageant

Miss Hawaii USA Jonelle Layfield goes national to compete in the 57th annual Miss USA pageant Thursday.

The competition will be broadcast on NBC from the Theatre for the Performing Arts at the Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino.

Layfield is an instructor with 24/7 Danceforce and a former dance captain for the University of Hawaii Rainbow Warrior Dancers. She's trained in ballet, jazz dance, hip-hop, modern dance and hula.

She has been with delegates from each of the 50 states and the District of Columbia for more than two weeks of events leading up to the live telecast.
