[ MOVIE PREVIEW ]
Movies opening Friday:
"Leatherheads": Leave it to the eclectic George Clooney to find inspiration for his 1920s pro football film in a screwball romantic comedy classic like "The Philadelphia Story." Clooney plays a charming rogue who recruits a World War I hero (John Krasinski) to clean up both his team's brawling image and help the then-struggling sport. When a reporter (Renee Zellweger) chases a story into their huddle, the teammates go mano-a-mano for her attention. (PG-13)
"Nim's Island": An young adventure-novel fan (Abigail Breslin) calls on her favorite if reclusive author (Jodie Foster) for help when her magical island paradise is threatened by invaders. Gerard Butler co-stars. (PG)
"The Ruins": Four friends vacationing in Mexico encounter a mysterious archaeological dig, where something evil lives among the ruins. Based on the scary best-selling book by Scott Smith. (R)
"Shine a Light": Martin Scorsese documents a series of Rolling Stones concerts shot in the fall of 2006 at the Beacon Theatre in New York. Jack White, Buddy Guy and Christina Aguilera join in on a few songs, and there's also some brief archival and backstage footage. (PG-13)
