Tim Wheeler's first-inning grand slam propelled the Hornets to a 6-4 win in the opener. Gabe Jacobo's three-run shot in the second game was the difference in a 5-2 victory.
Hawaii (9-18) has lost five in a row for the second time this season and is 1-9 away from home and 2-5 in the WAC.
The Rainbows sported a different lineup for the doubleheader and pounded out 23 hits, but only one went for extra bases.
Derek DuPree got the start in left for the first time in seven games for Hawaii and went 4-for-8. Ryan Morford added his first three hits of the season while starting at second base. Jon Hee moved to shortstop in place of a struggling Nate Young and was 5-for-10 with two runs scored.

From staff and wire reports
SACRAMENTO » A revamped lineup provided plenty of juice, but not enough punch, as Hawaii baseball's road losing streak reached nine games yesterday.
Sacramento State got key home runs in both games to sweep a doubleheader against Hawaii by scores of 6-4 and 5-2 at Hornet Field.
The Rainbows made wholesale changes to their lineup in hopes of sparking an offense that hasn't hit the ball well over the past month.
The result was a team that produced 23 hits in two games, which was more than they had in the entire Fresno State series last weekend. The only problem was, Jon Hee's triple to lead off the second game was the only extra-base hit. Hawaii left 17 runners on base and wasn't able to score more than one run in any inning.
"We're not able to put any crooked numbers up," Hawaii coach Mike Trapasso said. "We're getting good enough pitching to win some of these games, but we're just not hitting."
Nick Rhodes surrendered a grand slam to Tim Wheeler in the first inning of the first game as the Hornets took a quick 4-0 lead. Rhodes didn't make it through the third inning, but freshman Alex Capaul pitched five solid innings in relief and kept Hawaii in the game.
The Rainbows trailed 5-1 when they loaded the bases with nobody out in the eighth, but scored only once on a fielder's choice by Jeff Van Doornum. Brandon Haislet popped up with nobody out and Kevin Macdonald flied out to center.
"This team needs to panic," Trapasso said. "They need to play with a little more anger."
Hawaii got its first lead of the series to open the second game as Hee opened with a triple and scored on a single by Ryan Morford. Hee started the first 25 games of the season at second base, but moved to shortstop yesterday while Morford took over at second. Morford got his first three hits of the season while hitting second in the order.
"Until (Greg) Garcia gets healthy and gives us another option, Hee will play at short and Morford at second," Trapasso said.
Garcia is suffering from a sprained ankle, but made the trip and could be back in time for Tuesday's game against Stanford.
Josh Slaats fell to 0-3 after taking the loss in the second game. He lasted 3 1/3 innings before giving way to Jayson Kramer, who gave up a three-run homer to Gabe Jacobo in the fifth to give the Hornets a 5-1 lead.
Hawaii tacked on a run in the sixth on a two-out RBI single by Shane Hoey that scored Van Doornum. Hoey started in place of Vinnie Catricala at third base in both games. Catricala had been a starter in 24 of the first 25 games.
The Rainbows fell to 2-5 in the WAC and will try to avoid a four-game sweep today by Sacramento State, which is now 4-3 in conference play.
"We've still got a long way to go," Trapasso said. "We're going to keep plugging away."
Trapasso said he hadn't decided on a starter yet for today's series finale that begins at 10 a.m.
