Abubo bounced in surf meet
Hawaii's Megan Abubo was eliminated by Stephanie Gilmore in the quarterfinals of the Association of Surfing Professionals Rip Curl Women's Pro today at Bells Beach in Australia.
Gilmore defeated Abubo 11.83-8.83 and went on to win the title by knocking off Layne Beachley in the semifinals and Sofia Mulanovich in the final.
UH golf team slips to 15th-place finish
Hawaii dropped into a tie for 15th in the final round of the Ron Moore Invitational yesterday at the Palm Valley Golf Course in Goodyear, Ariz.
UH tied Air Force with a three-round aggregate score of 885. Kyle Walters was UH's top finisher, closing with a 5-over-par 77 to finish in 40th place at 218. Travis Toyama and Robert Berton tied for 55th at 223. Ryan Perez was 64th at 226 and Kamden Brakel 67th at 227.

HPU improves to 13-0 in men's tennis
The NCAA Division II 10th-ranked Hawaii Pacific University men's tennis team remained undefeated with a 7-0 win over Saint Louis yesterday at the University of Hawaii tennis complex.
The Sea Warriors (13-0) won all three doubles matches to earn a point, then swept the six singles matches without dropping a set.
