Plant show goes green

The Anthurium Plant Show and Sale hosted by Ward Centers aims to "Green It Up" this year.

The "Green It Up" fair takes place today and tomorrow, with exhibits, booths and demonstrations geared toward education about preserving the environment. Hours are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. today and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. tomorrow at Ward Warehouse.

Centered on a showcase of anthuriums, orchids, haku leis, corsages and ti-leaf exhibits, "Green It Up" events include:

» A free horticulture workshop at 10 a.m. both days at the Ward Warehouse Amphitheatre.

» The Green House's experts on worm composting and butterfly gardens, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Ward Centre.

» Free wellness activities sponsored by MOA Hawaii, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., at the Ward Warehouse Kakaako Conference Room, second floor.

» Free keiki activities such as sand-art bug magnets, planting and insect tattoos, near Borders Books & Music, ground floor, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
