Kailua graduate Hussey enjoys trip home
Eastern Kentucky sophomore
Shyenne Hussey (Kailua '06) punctuated her trip home with a berth on the all-tournament team of the Pepsi Malihini Kipa Aloha Tournament.
Hussey led the Colonels to a third-place finish in the tournament. Three of their four losses came against teams ranked in the Top 25.
Hussey, who generally bats cleanup and plays third base, finished the tournament 8-for-17 with a home run and four RBIs. She went 3-for-4 against Hawaii in two games, which were both losses.
It was the first collegiate games for Hussey and teammate DeAnn Horswill (Kalaheo '07) in their home state. Horswill came off the bench to play right field in two games, but didn't get an official at-bat.
» Santa Clara junior Noelani Hoopii (Kamehameha '05) recorded the Broncos' only hit in the first game of a doubleheader against Pacific and finished the day 3-for-4 as Santa Clara was swept by the Tigers.
» East Carolina sophomore Kaui Tom (Kamehameha '06) doubled home the tying and go-ahead runs with two outs in the sixth inning to lead the Pirates to their only victory in the Bulldog Invitational. Tom finished the four-game tournament 3-for-9, while Cristen Aona (Punahou '06) went 4-for-12 with an RBI and Charina Sumner (Kamehameha '06) went 3-for-12 with a triple.
» Pacific junior Kelly Nishitomi (Castle '06) went 6-for-13 with four runs scored as the Boxers took three of four games from Puget Sound. Loggers senior Lindsay Fujita (Punahou '04) was 3-for-10 in the series with a home run and junior Kelli Ishii (Punahou '05) had three hits, scored twice and drove in two runs.
BASEBALL
» Long Beach State junior catcher
Kip Masuda (Mid-Pacific '05) went 1-for-4 in his only start of the series as the Dirtbags swept Hawaii.
» Brigham Young junior Kasey Ko (Punahou '05) singled and drove in a run as the Cougars won their home opener on Tuesday against Utah Valley.
» Brown senior J.J. Eno (Baldwin '04) was 3-for-12 with two runs and two RBIs as the Bears lost two of three against Florida last weekend.
» Claremont-Mudd-Scripps junior Andrew Blomberg (Moanalua '05) went 4-for-5 with a home run in the second game of a doubleheader sweep of Whittier. Sophomore Travis Nishioka (Iolani '06) was 3-for-8 with four runs in both games, and Blomberg finished 6-for-9.
MEN'S BASKETBALL
» Washington State senior
Derrick Low (Iolani '04) earned all-conference honors in the Pac-10 for the second straight year after being selected to the third team. He played 47 minutes and had 16 points as the Cougars closed out the regular season with a 76-73 victory over Washington in double overtime. Low currently ranks fifth in 3-pointers made and 15th in scoring in school history.

Reggie Torres (Kamehameha '05) finished second in the 100-meter event with a time of 11.95 seconds in the Frank Haskins Invitational.
WOMEN'S TRACK & FIELD

Caitlyn Tateishi (Waiakea '04) qualified for the conference meet with a second-place finish in the 3,000-meter steeplechase in the Frank Haskins Invitational.
MEN'S VOLLEYBALL
» Cal State Northridge senior Isaac Kneubuhl (Kamehameha '03) had 17 kills and seven digs to help the second-ranked Matadors beat No. 5 Pepperdine in five games to win their 11th straight match.
» Princeton junior Ka'ohu Berg-Hee (Punahou '05) had three digs and an assist as the Tigers took a game off of No. 1 Penn State before losing in four.
» Stanford freshman Spencer McLachlin (Punahou '07) had 14 kills and hit .379 in a four-game victory over UC San Diego. McLachlin added nine digs and three aces, while sophomore Kawika Shoji (Iolani '06) had 57 assists, seven digs and two blocks. Freshman Jordan Inafuku (Kamehameha '07) also played and had a team-leading 10 digs.
