Weinberg grants $3M for Waianae housing
The
Harry & Jeanette Weinberg Foundation is donating $3 million to complete the
Kahikolu Ohana Hale O Waianae project for the homeless on the Waianae Coast. The project is building emergency, transitional and low-income rentals, with a resource center to provide case management, programs and services on site.
Child and Family Service named
Hoyt Zia, senior vice president and general counsel for Hawaiian Airlines, its new chairman of the board of directors. Zia previously chaired the CFS Strategic Planning Task Force and Executive Search Committee. He also works with the Hawaii Leadership Council for the American Diabetes Association and other organizations.
Robert Fujioka, vice chairman at First Hawaiian Bank, is CFS' new first vice chairman; Shelley Thompson, vice chairwoman and senior executive vice president and chief fiduciary officer at Bank of Hawaii, is the second vice chairwoman. Rann Watumull, co-founder of Hawaii Film Partners and creator of the nonprofit Family Business Center, and Anton Krucky, president and CEO of Tissue Genesis Inc., have also joined the board.
Mary Luther is the new chairwoman of the CFS Guild and Guild liaison to the CFS board.
