Kunia Orchid Society show moves to Leilehua gym
The Kunia Orchid Society celebrates "A New Beginning" next month -- its first orchid show in a new home, the Leilehua High School gymnasium.
So the 54th Annual Kunia Orchid Show won't be in Kunia, but the new location offers three times more space than the Kunia gymnasium, where the show was held for 53 years.
The show runs March 14 to16, with new orchid vendors and a "Kunia Kountry Store" selling orchid pot clips, mixes and trays as well as fresh fruits and vegetable plants.
As for the orchids, expect to see the wide variety that bloom at this time of year, including the Honohono, phalaenopsis, cattleyas, dendrobiums, Nobile and miniatures. Anthuriums, tropicals and cactuses will also be sold.
Hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. March 14 and 15, and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. March 16.
Admission is $2; free tickets for North Shore residents will be available at Ace Hardware and IGA Supermarket.
