Students vie for top prize in flier contest
Ten high school students throughout the state are finalists in a University of Hawaii-West Oahu contest, vying for an iPod Nano and the chance to get work published in
Sassy/G Magazine, a local teen magazine. Participants were asked to create a flier that promotes the campus as a top choice for college-bound students.
The ten finalists are Marc Jason Abundo of Kauai High School; Natalie Esprecion, Aiea High School; Jon Kitagawa, Hilo High School; Stephanie Medrano, Mililani High School; Cody Maemori, McKinley High School; Chelsey Nakama, Kapolei High School; Evan Potter, Radford High School; Sarah Smith, Konawaena High School; Jan Takamatsu, Campbell High School; and Raylanie Viernes, Kapolei High.
The public can vote for the grand prize winner by visiting uhwo.hawaii.edu/flyercontest by April 21.
Maui Community College is the 2008 winner of the Bellwether Award for innovative educational programs in the Workforce Development category. The award is sponsored by the Community College Futures Assembly of the Institute of Higher Education at the University of Florida.
