C.S. Wo’s Chinese New Year's party draws big festive crowd
The C.S. Wo furniture stores family really knows how to throw a party. About 900 people attended Saturday's Chinese New Year's celebration at Wo's Beretania Street complex. Store President
Robert "Bub" Wo Jr. and his brothers,
Wendell, Bennett and
Scott, were there greeting guests and seeing that all went well. Their parents,
Robert and
Betty, attended. Gourmet tasting stations by chefs
Kelvin Ro of Diamond Head Market and
Diane Nazarro of Windward Community College, and Superb Sushi were crowded.
Keala Chock,
Greg Eckart and
Brett Nakoa worked up a sweat accommodating people who packed the wine bar. Southern Wine and Spirits provided a martini bar. Sake tasting was by Kokusai Sake Kai. Among the attractions were a fashion show featuring creations by San Francisco's
Monique Cicada, a jewelry display for Neiman Marcus by
Julie Wong, Yao paintings, calligraphy and of course lion dancing by Big Daddy Lion and his cubs ...
