Dinner and concert to sound out call for peace

The idea of peace will be celebrated in song at a Feb. 29 leap-year dinner and concert at Honpa Hongwanji Betsuin Hawaii, 1727 Pali Highway.

The event will be sponsored by a coalition of peace-seeking organizations that have adopted LEAP as an acronym for "Let's Everyone Affirm Peace."

Keith and Carmen Haugen will perform songs of peace, including his composition "Cease Fire." The audience will have an opportunity to sing along with traditional songs such as "Study War No More."

Admission is $15, payable at the door.

The sponsors include Hawaii People's Fund, Americans for Democratic Action, American Friends Service Committee, Honolulu Friends Meeting, United Nations Association Hawaii Division and Veterans for Peace.
