Atreyu
Pipeline Cafe / 589-1999
Southern California-based metalheads Atreyu (pictured) might surprise you with some of the instruments they play, including the Turkish saz, trumpets and pedal steel guitar. But with 10 years of experience, the band has established a solid following, becoming popular enough to release a greatest hits album at the start of 2007. They play Honolulu in support of their latest release, "Lead Sails Paper Anchor," before heading back to the mainland for shows in Colorado and Missouri.
Wednesday and Thursday
"Acid Wash: 80's Prom" and DJ Kid Cudi
NextDoor / 548-6398
Whether you celebrate Valentine's Day or not, NextDoor offers a pair of parties worth checking out next week.
The second annual "Acid Wash 80's Prom" goes down on Wednesday, with no cover for those dressed in theme. On Thursday, New York's DJ Kid Cudi arrives a few weeks after his boss, DJ A-Trak (co-owner of Fools Gold Records) and promoter buddy DJ Roxy Cottontail were in town; he'll be joined by the Nocturnal Sound Krew.
