Filmmakers have more time to fine tune shorts

Showdown In Chinatown is giving filmmakers the luxury of fine tuning their short films by giving them a week to work on them.

For those unfamiliar with the monthly challenge, filmmakers typically have only three days to work on their film challenge. February's theme will be announced at 4 p.m. today at www.showdowninchinatown.com, and filmmakers will have a week to write, shoot and edit a 4- to 7-minute film to be screened from 8 p.m. Feb. 9 to 2 a.m., at Next Door, 43 N. Hotel St.

Admission to the viewing party is $10 general; or $5 with a valid college I.D. for 18 and older during the screening, and 21 and older after the screening.

There is no cost for filmmakers wishing to enter the competition, as long as they pre-register online. Films will be due at thirtyninehotel between 4 and 6 p.m. Feb. 8.
