Punahou team wins in national contest
Team Kaizen of Punahou School was one of the top five winners of the nationwide Voices of Innovation video contest, sponsored by Innovation America Foundation (IAF). Teammates include
Ryan Catalani, Kevin Lee, Jonathan Santiago, and
Ashley Nabeshima.
IAF invited teams of high school students to submit 45-second videos answering the question: "How can you improve your world through innovation?" All winning videos can be viewed at www.innovationfound.org.
Kaiser Permanente honored 24 students from
Radford and
Waipahu high schools for volunteering to paint 10 murals at its Moanalua Pediatric Clinic. They put in more than 550 hours of work to complete the 4-by-25-foot murals.
James Kwong, principal of Yogi Kwong Engineers, LLC, received the sole Microtunneling Achievement Award from the Colorado School of Mines. It recognizes his work on award-winning projects that include the Nimitz Highway Reconstructed Sewer, and the Hart Street Dual Force Main.
The
Organ Donor Center of Hawaii named
Stephen A. Kula as its new executive director. He was president and CEO of Hospice Hawaii for 12 years, executive director for The Arc in Hawaii, and director of long-term care for AIG Insurance Company, Inc.
