Tuiasosopo commits to Hawaii
Saint Louis offensive lineman Tui Tuiasosopo has given an oral commitment to play football at Hawaii.
The 6- foot-1 1/2, 290-pound senior was a Star-Bulletin All-State first-team selection. Some Pac-10 schools had planned to visit with Tuiasosopo soon.
"I felt at home with coach (Greg) McMackin, and coach Cal Lee was the one recruiting me heavily," said Tuiasosopo, who has a 4.2 grade-point average.
Tuiasosopo was among five players to commit to UH after weekend recruiting visits to Manoa. A sixth player, Kaiser wide receiver Kalua Noa, has been asked to walk on and is considering it.
Lajola nets WAC tennis honor
Hawaii freshman Dennis Lajola was named Western Athletic Conference men's tennis Player of the Week yesterday.
Lajola started his UH career by going 2-0 in singles last week, defeating Florida State's Sam Chang, who was ranked 68th in the country, and Bijan Hejazi of UC Santa Barbara. Lajola and teammate Jeff Fitch also picked up a doubles win against FSU.
