'CIRCO DI NOTTE' AT THE ACADEMY
"THE BALL" GOES ITALIAN: The Honolulu Academy of Arts was the place to be on Saturday as Director Stephen Little, fifth from left, and ARTafterDARK presented "Starlight Ball 2008: Circo de Notte," a gala fundraiser for the Art to Go Program for at-risk youth. Richard Chamberlain, left, Prada Asia-Pacific Regional Retail Operations Manager Roberto Savian, Prada Asia-Pacific CEO Sebastian Suhl, Princess Dialta Alliata de Montereale, Prince Vittorio Alliata de Montereale and Martin Rabbett joined Little at a front-row table in the VIP section.

AFTafterDARK supporters Amy Sumida and Ari White took the "Italian circus meets decadent Berlin cabaret" theme so seriously that they could have been Fellini-esque performers percolating through the crowd for much of the evening. The gold hues in White's facial makeup only glowed when he was being photographed.

Daniel Dae Kim, left, and his wife, Mia, met Rai Saint Chu and Richard Turbin as they explored the various courtyards and hidden nooks checking out the food and beverage stations. With Hula Grill, Cassis by Chef Mavro, E&O Trading and Sam Choy's among participating restaurants, the food options were excellent. Bar service was slow -- but friendly.

Diamond Head Theatre's assistant technical director, Vincent Green, sported an ever-stylish black-on-black ensemble (and the "stiff upper lip" expected of a proper English gentleman under all circumstances) as he enjoyed the party with Fox, left, Skye, Niki Tattinger and D.J. The ladies let their imaginations go wild with pheasant feathers, 18th-century-style wigs and an eclectic assortment of fashion accessories.

ARTafterDARK Advisory Board Chairwoman Cori Mackie, second from left, was the belle of the ball in an eye-catching metallic silver gown created for her by designer Joseph Reyes, center. Mackie, a patron-level sponsor of "Circo di Notte," enjoyed the evening at a reserved table in the VIP area that she and Reyes shared with Jason O'Rourke, left, Erika Kauffman and Leah Unabia.
