With Puu Oo smoking to the northwest in the distance, upper left, new lava covers Kilauea's East Rift Zone above the Royal Gardens subdivision in this photo taken Monday. The smaller plume at the upper right indicates lava from what has become known as the Thanksgiving Eve breakout - flows that have grown vertically and laterally over the last several weeks.
