Kalihi man is charged in stabbing death of wife
A 40-year-old Kalihi man was charged yesterday with second-degree murder in the stabbing death of his wife.
Roy William Hartsock, who has 27 convictions, was arrested Wednesday following the stabbing. Jenny Hartsock was found just outside their apartment at 757 Gulick Ave. at 9:32 p.m.
Bail was set at $1 million.
Police said Hartsock ran to the fire station across from Farrington High School and told firefighters his wife had been stabbed.
Witnesses told police that Hartsock said his wife had been "stabbed by five guys with guns," according to a police affidavit.
Jenny Hartsock appeared to have multiple stab wounds with a knife protruding from her chest, police said.
A neighbor said he heard Jenny Hartsock calling out to him and found her in a pool of blood on his doorstep with a 14-inch kitchen knife in her chest and Roy Hartsock leaning over her.
Hartsock has had numerous convictions, including abuse of a household member and protective-order violations.
In 1998 he was charged with attempted murder of his girlfriend, who filed a complaint that he tried to kill her but later recanted her story and refused to cooperate with law enforcement.
