COMING UP

Top-level gymnastics to be performed

Thirty-five teams from Japan, Canada, Australia, Puerto Rico and the mainland will compete next weekend at the Aloha Gymfest at Kailua High School.

The Kokokahi Gymnastics Team will host 300 competitors, many of them elite gymnasts, Jan. 18-20. Expect a preview of some of the moves that will be seen at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing.

Top-level and elite gymnasts compete at 6:30 p.m. on the 19th.

Special memberships at Aloha Tower gym

The Hawaii Athletic Club has opened at Aloha Tower Marketplace, offering a membership deal that includes personal training at no extra cost.

A grand-opening rate of $150 per month covers lockers, towel service, classes and access to equipment and unlimited personal training. Most fitness centers charge additional hourly rates for personal trainers.
