Haseko helps Ewa Beach Weed & Seed
The
Haseko Training Fund gave $10,000 to the
Ewa Beach Weed & Seed program for the operation of its culinary arts program for about 25 James Campbell High School students during the summer.
Haseko also gave an additional $100,000 for vocational education scholarships for Ewa Beach students and grants for job-training programs.
The
Hawaii Chapter of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation was given $13,000 by
Mililani Middle School's 400 students, who raised the funds in a walk-athon on campus last fall.
The students learned about the effects of Type 1 diabetes, which primarily affects children.

Kuakini Auxiliary, the largest hospital auxiliary in Hawaii with more than 500 volunteers, elected its officers for 2008. The new president is
Nancy Shimamoto; vice president,
Sharon Kurio; recording secretary,
Karen Kuraoka; corresponding secretary,
Beverly Klopf; and treasurer,
Lella Migita.
The auxiliary is under the Kuakini Health System and has raised more than $1 million for the hospital since 1978.
