Cognac takes stage at Wine Chronicles
If a deep, rich cognac is your beverage of choice, get yourself to "Wine Chronicles VI," a tasting of Hennessy Cognac and Grand Marnier, 6:30 p.m. Monday at Cupola Theatre in the Honolulu Design Center.
Ron Shinoda leads a tasting to include Hennessy VS, VSOP, XO and Paradis, along with Grand Marnier Cordon Rouge, Centenaire and Cent Cinquantenaire.

Vegan dinners are coming up
January's Vegan Macrobiotic Community Dinners will be held Jan. 16 and 25 at Church of the Crossroads, 1212 University Ave.
Chef Leslie Ashburn's meals are served eat-in or take-out from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Cost is $12; $3.50 for dessert with tea.
Jan. 16 menu: French Lentil and Vegetable Soup, brown rice, Ma'o Farms Greens with Sweet Corn, Sea Palm with Fried Tofu and Veggies. Dessert is Orange Mousse with Japanese twig tea. RSVP by Jan. 14.
Jan. 25 menu: Cauliflower, Leek and Wakame Soup; Enchanted Broccoli Forest Casserole (millet, squash and broccoli); black beans; Miso Arame Sauerkraut. Desert is Sweet Potato Mochi with Japanese twig tea. RSVP by Jan. 23.
