Boat hits reef off WaikikiCRAIG T. KOJIMA / CKOJIMA@STARBULLETIN.COM
The 36-foot sailboat TeraMoana ran aground early yesterday on a reef about 200 yards offshore from the Outrigger Reef Hotel in Waikiki. The Coast Guard rescued a man and woman who were on the boat after they called for help at about 1:22 a.m., saying the boat was taking on water. About 15 gallons of marine diesel fuel was removed from the water around the boat. Coast Guard pollution investigators arrived to make sure the boat did not pose any further threat to the environment.
