Kapanui on Little All-America team
West Texas A&M senior tight end Kolo Kapanui (Kamehameha '01) was named to the first team Thursday of the Associated Press Little All-America and the Daktronics Division II All-America football teams.
The 6-foot-5, 255-pound Kapanui caught 39 passes this season for 481 receiving yards and seven touchdowns. He was also a key to the Buffs' swinging gate extra-point conversion attempts as he scored on five of seven 2-point conversion rushing tries.
The AP Little All-America team honors players from Division II and the NAIA.
Kapanui helped the Buffs to the Lone Star Conference title and an appearance in the Division II playoffs. He was named to the All-LSC and All-Southwest region teams.
Kapanui began his injury-plagued career at USC. He has been invited to next month's Hula Bowl.
