A Board of Water Supply crew worked yesterday to repair a 24-inch water main that broke on Farrington Highway near Ko Olina. The work, which is expected to extend into this morning, created another traffic mess for Leeward Oahu residents who also were hit hard by last week's storm. Area residents are asked to conserve water.

A Honolulu Fire Department crew yesterday rescued three hikers who became stuck on a steep slope below the Pali Lookout. The three men climbed about 200 yards up from Old Pali Road and were unable to get back down. They used a cell phone to call for help shortly before noon and were brought down three hours later by firefighters who rappelled down the slope with the hikers. Here, firefighters brought down Andrew Northrop. All three hikers were unharmed.
