Trapasso, Rivers at QB Club luncheon
Hawaii baseball coach Mike Trapasso, Rainbow Wahine softball coach Bob Coolen and Warrior wide receiver Jason Rivers are among the featured guests at tomorrow's Honolulu Quarterback Club luncheon at the Pagoda Hotel.
Trapasso and Coolen will share the podium with Moanalua High girls volleyball coach Tommy Lake. Rivers will receive his award as November's Male Athlete of the Month.
Lunch begins at 11:30 a.m. followed by the noon program. The event is open to the public.
Kussler scores 30 in Chaminade win
ROHNERT PARK, Calif. » Senior forward Stewart Kussler was in a zone last night, going 11-for-13 from the floor, including hitting five 3-pointers, to lead Chaminade past Humboldt State 77-68 in the Ron Logsdon Basketball Classic.
Kussler finished with a career-high 30 points for the Silverswords (3-3). Senior center Marko Kolaric turned in his fifth consecutive double-double (11 points, 15 rebounds) and senior guard Hayden Heiber added a double-double (13 points, 11 assists).
Chaminade hit 11 of 22 3-point attempts, led by Kussler going 5-for-5. Will Sheufelt led the Lumberjacks (5-2) with 26 points.
» At Arcata, Calif., the Hawaii-Hilo women's basketball team fell to host Humboldt State 89-50.
Sophomore guard Jamie Mattos came off the bench to score 10 points for the Vulcans (0-4) and starting junior guard Ashley Kualii added nine points, three assists and three rebounds in being named to the Humboldt Classic all-tournament team.
