‘Twas a month before Christmas
'Twas a month before Christmas, on an island in the sea
That a tiny WAC school would make history
Now they're the Warriors, but everyone knows
That in the heart of Hawaii they'll always be the 'Bows
The media would talk of a weak schedule that
Even Stanford could run over flat
But June had perfected the ol' run and gun
So much that he knew his team was number one
The stadium was packed, and the crowd went nuts
Only to watch Colt look like a klutz
Down by three touches, but no one would quit
They knew they could score, fast and quick
Slowly but surely they racked up the yards
The fans could feel it, it was in the stars
The game got close, June started to sweat
Along with all the Hawaiians who had placed a big bet
The game wasn't over, the win was still in doubt
But that's when the fans really started to shout
As Colt took the field for the game-tying drive
His blood was pumping, he felt so alive
"Now, Rivers! Now, Grice-Mullins! Now, Hawthorne and Bess!"
Let's show the country how we do things out West
We'll win this game, and achieve our goal:
An at-large berth to the Sugar Bowl
Down the field, the drive did move on
When June called the play for Rivers to go long
Oh! What a beauty! As the pass did fly
Into his outstretched arms for the tie
Then came the chance, as Colt gave a grin
When he realized he could pull out the win
A long, patient drive, right down the field
The defense was tired, they could only yield
With less than a minute, it finally came
And onto the field, the streamers did rain
But No! A last second effort, it just can't be
All of this work, just to go to O.T.
But a pick in the end would end it all
And the last undefeated team still couldn't fall
It was meant to be! After all the stress
Hawaii would end up in the BCS
With a whole state behind them, and feeling quite smug
The Georgia Bulldog looked more like a pug
As a last parting word, June Jones would say
"Colt Brennan for Heisman, see you New Year's Day"
