Shopping, office space planned at Mililani
Castle & Cooke Hawaii will open a retail and office complex in its Mililani Mauka development in early 2009, the company said yesterday.
The Gateway at Mililani Mauka will serve residents of the 350-home development Castle & Cooke is finishing in the area. The two-building complex will house business ranging from dental offices to restaurants. Lease deals are still in negotiation.
"There's a great deal of interest," said spokesman Peter Daniels of Kauhane Communications. "That partly because very few current businesses and services are located there."
The two-story office and professional building will be 21,600 square feet, and the retail center will be 6,000 square feet. Potential retail tenants include restaurants, a nail salon, pet shop and a florist. The company declined to release cost estimates.
The commercial buildings are scheduled for completion at the end of 2008 and will open in the first quarter of 2009, Daniels said.
Castle & Cooke, primarily a real estate development company, will also open a 44,000-square-foot self storage facility with 585 units in the area early next year. It will include a packing supplies store and a business center that offers Internet, fax and copy services.
Residential construction in Mililani Mauka is expected to be finished in the first quarter of 2008.
