The Hawaii Theatre was re-created with LEGOs and put on display on Saturday at the Hawaii FIRST LEGO League Championship Tournament at the McKinley High School gymnasium. The building, along with replicas of the Home Street Bank building and a bus stop, took Roy Gal, pictured in the background, approximately 100 hours to complete. "I was really into it as a kid, and like many people I stopped when I was in high school and college," Gal said. "Then I got back into it."

The tournament drew 64 teams of children ages 9 to 14 from around the state who developed, programmed and managed autonomous LEGO robots to perform a series of tasks in the competition. Iolani Schools' Roboraiders Black won the Champion's Award and will be traveling to Atlanta to participate in the FIRST LEGO League Power Puzzle World Festival April 17-19.
