Using his forearm, "muay Thai" martial artist Jeff Pelletier, above, broke through a stack of 12 bricks at the Martial Arts Festival held over the weekend at the Neal Blaisdell Center. The festival featured demonstrations from local martial artists along with special appearances by "wushu" masters Chen Lei and Emilio Alpanseque. Other activities included music, vendors and a drawing for a trip to China.

The junior demonstration team from the U.S. Taekwondo Center in Aina Haina practiced Saturday before a performance at the festival. The "dojang" is led by nine-time U.S. National Champion Master Dae Sung Lee, who is currently coaching the Chinese Olympic team.
