Honu come back on Sharks

Chris Valaika and Billy Hart each drove in a pair of runs in the sixth inning to lead the North Shore Honu over the Honolulu Sharks 8-6 yesterday in Hawaii Winter Baseball at Hans L'Orange Field.

Mat Gamel broke the tie for the Honu with a solo blast in the seventh inning and Charles Benoit picked up his fourth win in relief. Chad Thall (0-3) took the loss for the Sharks.

» Jeff Kindel hit a pair of home runs to lead the Waikiki BeachBoys over the West Oahu Cane Fires 6-3 in the second game last night. Yutaka Tamaki earned the win with seven shutout innings for Waikiki.

Rainbow Wahine rout Lady Techsters

Five different players scored as Hawaii defeated Louisiana Tech 5-0 in a women's soccer match yesterday at Ruston, La.

It was the fourth win in the last five Western Athletic Conference matches for the Rainbow Wahine (11-4-2, 4-1).

Alexis Choi had three assists for Hawaii, while Mari Punzal, Taryn Fukuroku, Tehane Higa, Kelli-Anne Chang and Vanessa Bailey scored the goals.

UH goalkeepers Kori Lu and Nicole McClure combined for the shutout of the Lady Techsters (2-13-1, 0-5-1).
