HMSA site has data members can access
Hawaii Medical Service Association's 700,000 members can directly access information about their personal health plan with changes made to the HMSA Web site, hmsa.com.
The Web site has been redesigned with added functions and a new look, HMSA announced.
"Our primary goal was to provide our members with online access to relevant, timely information about their health plan and benefits," Michael Stollar, HMSA vice president of corporate communications, said in a news release.
"The new site is very easy to navigate and delivers important information in a simple, user-friendly way."
Members can log on through a secure "My Account" feature, using information from their HMSA card. They have access in their account to personal information about their benefits, coverage and claims.
Those with prescription drug coverage can enter drug names and get descriptions and medication interactions.
Through an enhanced provider search function, members can look for local health care providers by location, specialty, board certifications, health center affiliations, languages spoken and whether new patients are accepted.
The Web site also has a link to comprehensive health and wellness information through WebMD, an online source of health information.
Information also is available on the Web site about HMSA plans, promotion and prevention programs and activities in the community, and job openings with the health insurer.
