On The Scene
NEVER MIND THE RAIN
The food ran out before all the guests had a chance to eat, but neither that nor the occasional sprinkles marred the launch party for HAWAII Mrs Magazine Oct. 6 at Aloha Tower. Beauty and Fashion Editor Crystal Pancipanci, left, shared a table in the VIP area with her brother, Jureyl Pancipanci, third from left, his girlfriend, Devyn Rola, and Hashem Sharifi, a longtime friend, while other members of the staff entertained elsewhere. Editor-in-Chief Cynthia Domantay Aiu writes in her first letter from the editor column that the new magazine will "share the value of the married woman" and cover all aspects of "what it takes to be a married woman in paradise."
A NIGHT TO REMEMBER
George "Granny Goose" Groves, left, entertained psychotherapist Allana Coffee and Takeo of 2 Couture at "Huna Aloha," an exhibit of vintage aloha shirts and swimwear presented Thursday by the Hawai'i Fashion Incubator at the Ramsay Gallery. The event included Bacardi mojitos in the courtyard outside the gallery, and the drinks were such a hit that many people remained outside.
WINE, WATER AND CHOCOLATE
Dennis Teranishi, left, CEO of Hawaiian Host, talked with Aya Mudgett and Yutaka Ishiyama of Hawaii Deep Sea Water at "Chopsticks & Wine: Twilight in Tuscany," a fundraiser for the Honolulu Japanese Chamber of Commerce, Wednesday at the Sheraton Waikiki. The selection of gourmet pupus was excellent, but there were not enough tables to accommodate the 1,200 people who came to support the HJCC.
WELCOMING MR. KAYE
Celebrity couture designer Michael Kaye, center, was the guest of honor at the Fashion Week Kickoff Party. Fashion Week co-founder Takeo of 2 Couture, right, welcomed Kaye and special guest Anthony Muto to Rumours before announcing his presence to the crowd. Kaye posed for many photos with fans before the party was over.
Colt Duntemann joined Chanel Wise, Miss Hawaii USA 2007, at the FACE-Honolulu Fashion Week Kickoff Party at Rumours last Tuesday. Wise was one of the co-hosts. Duntemann dropped in after checking out an Oktoberfest party where his upscale German-logo polo shirt made a perfect fashion statement.
