Robbery, kidnapping charges hit restaurateur
The owner of the Hungry Lion restaurant in Nuuanu is accused of beating and restraining a woman last month.
Kazuyuki Goto was charged Wednesday with first-degree robbery and kidnapping.
At about 3:30 a.m. Sept. 9, Goto went to a woman's apartment on Kaiolu Street. The woman is general manager of Club La Vie En Rose and has known Goto as a customer for more than two months.
When the victim did not open the door, Goto allegedly broke through and punched, kicked and slapped the woman in her face, arms and legs several times.
According to court documents, Goto allegedly pulled his pants down, and the woman asked him in Japanese, "What are you doing?"
Goto then allegedly continued to beat the woman, saying, "I love you so much, how come you don't understand?" and "Don't make me mad!"
Goto then allegedly got on top of the woman, holding her down until the woman grabbed his hair, kicked him in the face and ran away.
The woman identified Goto through a photographic lineup. He was arrested Tuesday afternoon at the restaurant.
