The short hair and pink shirt are not Brent Ching's usual look, but that's his bachelor persona for Cosmopolitan.

Hawaii's bachelor hopes fans think pink and cast votes
The 34-year-old is competing for the Cosmopolitan title
Voting is on for Cosmopolitan's Bachelor of the Year 2007, and this year's hunk from Hawaii is Brent Ching, a 34-year-old pediatric dentist nominated by fellow dentist Cheryl Tamanaha and Ching's friend Marisa Wahl.
His reaction when they told him about it in April was, "Yeah, whatever," and he didn't think about it again until he returned from a trip to Asia in June and received a phone call telling him he was the Hawaii nominee.
At first he thought it was his same friends pulling a practical joke, but by late June he was flying to Los Angeles for a photo shoot, a little bummed because, while in Asia, he and a friend had shaved their heads on a lark.
Was he drunk?
"No, that's the worst part," he said. "So I'm bald (actually he's fuzzy-headed) in the photo on the Web site.
"I have to admit I don't have the best photo up there, but I think I have the best video -- oh, and wearing the pink shirt wasn't my idea."
Adventurous by nature, Ching seems to be enjoying the attention. "I'm in it now, might as well go for the gusto, just go with the flow. Why not?"
In addition to dentistry, he teaches nutrition at the University of Phoenix, and -- this is sure to catch the attention of single women -- he also works part time as a wedding planner with Shari Dang Weddings, opening many possibilities for a prospective groom doing all the work as far as planning a perfect wedding.
As to whether he actually believes he would make a great catch, he says, "I hope so. I think I'm a good guy; good family; good values. Simple.
"As long as a girl doesn't have bad temperament, that's good for me. I don't fight back, so the simpler and nicer the better. If they have temperament, oh! OH!"
