Sharks hand Honu first loss in HWB
The North Shore Honu became the last Hawaii Winter Baseball team knocked from the ranks of the unbeaten last night when they fell to the Honolulu Sharks 2-1 at Iron Maehara Stadium on Maui. Also yesterday, the Waikiki BeachBoys rallied for three runs in the top of the ninth to break a 5-5 tie and beat the West Oahu CaneFires 8-6. West Oahu mustered a run in the bottom half for the final margin.
HPU rallies for win at Dixie State
The Hawaii Pacific women's volleyball team rallied from a two-game deficit to beat Dixie State 30-32, 28-30, 30-23, 30-16, 15-10 yesterday in St. George, Utah.
With the win, the Lady Sea Warriors improved to 6-11 (2-4 in the PacWest), while the Lady Rebels fell to 4-15 (2-3).
Antje Buskies had 28 kills and 25 digs for HPU.
» BYU-Hawaii dropped a PacWest match to Grand Canyon yesterday in Phoenix, 30-26, 28-30, 33-31, 30-26.
Noelle Filimoeatu put down 16 kills as the Seasiders dropped to 7-6, 3-2 in conference. Grand Canyon is 4-11, 1-3 in the PacWest.
» UH Hilo swept Mills College yesterday in Oakland, 30-18, 30-21, 30-17. The nonconference win boosted the Vulcans' record to 11-5. The Cyclones are 1-7.
Hillary Hurley led UHH with 13 kills, while Hilo High graduate Loke Davis had 10 kills for Mills.
UH Hilo wins event at Turtle Bay
The UH Hilo men's golf team shot a 298 yesterday to win a four-team match at Turtle Bay's Palmer Course. BYU Hawaii shot a 320 yesterday to finish second, followed by Hawaii Pacific with a 324 and Chaminade with a 354.
UHH's Logan Goulding took medalist honors with a 1-over 73.
