Jasmine Jou performed hip-hop Saturday at the first Taste of Kalihi block party, held on Colburn Street. Jou and other dancers from Dance Artistry were part of the free entertainment at the event, sponsored by the Filipino Chamber of Commerce and the City and County of Honolulu. A portion of the proceeds benefited the Kalihi Weed and Seed program. The event will be annual and was one of the results of Mayor Mufi Hannemann's Kalihi Economic Summit, which was held in April and was aimed at revitalizing the area and stimulating business opportunities.
