Sullivan makes fourth round in France
Hawaii's Pancho Sullivan surfed into the fourth round of the Quiksilver Pro France at Hossegor yesterday.
Sullivan defeated Victor Ribas in a third-round heat, 10.5 to 6.1.
Luke Munro eliminated Hawaii's Andy Irons, a contender for a fourth world title.
Kelly Slater, who is ranked No. 2 and is going for his ninth world title, was also eliminated yesterday in his heat against wild-card Michel Bourez.

Deng and Li advance in California
Maggie Deng and Elwin Li of Brigham Young-Hawaii won their opening singles matches in the Wilson/Intercollegiate Tennis Association West Regionals yesterday at Pomona, Calif.
Deng received a first-round bye and beat Mallory Brady of Cal Poly Pomona 6-0, 6-1 in the second round.
Li knocked off Rina Nakano of UC San Diego 6-1, 6-0, and then beat Bojana Ducanovic of Cal State Los Angeles 6-1, 6-0.
Deng and Li will also play doubles in the tournament, starting today.
Seasiders enter regional rankings
Brigham Young-Hawaii moved into the West Region cross country rankings at No. 9.
The rankings are made by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Association.
Chico State is No. 1, followed by Western Washington and Alaska-Anchorage.
