Jewels from Chanel ad on display
In celebration of Chanel's new print and film ad campaign featuring Keira Knightley as the new face of the fragrance Coco Mademoiselle, Chanel Waikiki will be featuring the fine jewelry pieces Knightley wears in the film.
Hawaii is one of only three locations selected for the launch, the others being Dallas and Bal Harbour, Fla.
Available for ogling on the second floor of the Chanel Waikiki boutique from 7:30 p.m. today through Monday will be a white gold-and-diamond Dentelle de Camelia cuff priced at $240,000 and two necklaces from the Coco a Venise collection. There will be about 20 pieces on view.
The Coco Mademoiselle fragrance debuted in 2001 and was originally represented by model Kate Moss.
The Coco a Venise necklace of white gold and diamonds worn by Knightley on our cover can double as an ankle bracelet in keeping with Coco Chanel's spirit of modernity, irreverence and confidence.
Artistic director Jacques Helleu said he sought out Knightley after seeing her in the films "Pride & Prejudice" and "Domino."
"I was immediately struck with her presence at the very moment we decided to look for a new muse," he told an interviewer in May.
The worldwide search for a director took him to Europe, the United States, Japan and China, and Joe Wright, who had directed Knightley in "Pride & Prejudice" and "Atonement," was selected.
The photographer for the campaign is Dominique Issermann.
Chanel Waikiki is at 2116 Kalakaua Ave. Call 923-0255 for more information.
