Hula Grill savors Oktoberfest flavors
Hula Grill Waikiki celebrates Oktoberfest with a Sam Adams Dinner at 6 p.m. Oct. 3.
The menu: Pipikaula and Big Island Goat Cheese Crostini (with Sam Adams Lager), Oyster Float with Wasabi Foam (brown ale), Seared Ahi Scallop and Kona Kampachi Sashimi (black lager), Braised Boneless Beef Short Ribs (Oktoberfest Beer), Ginger and Tahitian Vanilla Bean Crème Brûlée, Banana Lumpia and Vanilla Bean Ice Cream (limited-edition Utopia).

Napa Valley comes to Kahala Resort
A visit to Napa Valley in autumn would be nice, but if it's not practical, consider dinner at Hoku's.
The Kahala Resort restaurant marks the end of summer with an "All Things Napa" menu Wednesday through Saturday, highlighted by a wine dinner by guest chef Chris Manning of Domaine Chandon's étoile restaurant in Napa.
Hoku's chef Wayne Hirabayashi's set menu: Oyster & Granny Smith Apple Shooter, Warm Basil Gnocchi Salad, Pan Roasted Big Island Kampachi, Rack of Colorado Lamb Stew and dessert of Domaine Chandon Sorbet. Cost is $88; items are also available a la carte.
Manning's "Sparkling Chandon Evening" menu on Thursday only: Smoked Manila Clams, Kona Kampachi Sashimi, Crisp Striped Bass, Pan-Roasted Wagyu Beef and Bitter Orange Crème Brûlée. Cost is $88; tasting flight of wines (Étoile Brut Rosé, Chandon Reserve Pinot Noir Brut, Domaine Chandon Pinot Meunier 2005, Domaine Chandon Pinot Noir 2005 and Chandon Riche) is $40.
