UH basketball tickets go on sale

Season tickets for the 2007-08 University of Hawaii men's and women's basketball seasons go on sale Oct. 8. Fans may purchase season tickets at the Stan Sheriff Center box office by calling 944-2697 or go online at HawaiiAthletics.com. The box office is open weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. (closed on holidays).

For the men, there are only single seats available for adults in the lower level and they are $270. Upper level for adults are $200. Senior-citizen (65 and older) tickets for the upper level are $175. Upper-level tickets for high schoolers are $89 and are $59 for UH students.

Tickets for the Manoa Maniacs (lower section F) are $69 and that price includes a T-shirt and other benefits. These season tickets do not include the Rainbow Classic.

For the women, season tickets are $75 for adults and $60 for senior citizens. High school and UH students get in free.

Hawaii women finish 10th in Texas

The Hawaii's women finished 10th and the men dropped to 43rd in the final round of the USGS State Team Championship golf tournament yesterday at Woodlands, Texas.

Arizona's women and the men's team from Texas won the three-round tournament at The Club at Carlton Woods par-72 course.

Hayley Young of Honolulu led the Hawaii women with scores of 78, 79 and 75. The Hawaii women's team scored 464, while Arizona finished with 437.

In men's play, Henry Park of Waikoloa led the men with scores of 74, 76 and 74. The Hawaii men's team scored 450, 28 stokes behind the winning Texas squad.

Only the top two scores from the three-member teams from each state were counted in each day's play.

Banana Slugs edge Seasiders

UC Santa Cruz defeated Brigham Young-Hawaii 2-1 yesterday in men's soccer at Santa Cruz, Calif.

The Banana Slugs took a 2-0 lead by the 18th minute before the Seasiders' Brian Noguera drilled in a shot off of a corner kick early in the second half.

BYU-Hawaii dropped to 4-4.

» The Brigham Young-Hawaii women's team won its fourth straight match yesterday, 4-3 over Dixie State at St. George, Utah.

Amber Nordhagen scored the game-winning goal for the Seasiders (4-2-1). Ashley Hunter, Sarah Welty and Jill Haar also scored for BYUH, and Welty added an assist.
