Hanohano Room hosting salsa competition
Say yes to salsa at a Salsa Couples Competition, 10 tonight at the Sheraton Waikiki's Hanohano Room. Doors open at 9 p.m. for an hour's worth of free lessons.
The contest is part of the club's weekly salsa night on Fridays.
Judges will be selected from the crowd and seated at the VIP table, where free champagne will help them make their decisions.
Cover charge is $10; must be 21 years or older. Drink specials include $4 Budweisers and $5 mojitos or sangria from 9 to 11 p.m.

ASID awards show tomorrow
The stage is set for the American Society of Interior Designers Hawaii Chapter awards banquet being held tomorrow at the Kahala Hotel and Resort, where the ASID will honor its best.
The theme of this year's gala, with designer Kaypee Soh behind all banquet graphic elements, is "Ball Blanc," a black, white and silver theme.
Winners will be announced, and current president Deborah Lowry, program coordinator of the interior design department at Chaminade, will pass the torch to incoming 2008 president Rici Conger of RCI Interior Designs in Kula, Maui.
The fun includes a billiard challenge, silent auction, music and dancing.

One day vintage collectibles show
Mark your calendars for the Fall Wiki Wiki One Day Vintage Collectibles and Hawaiiana show Oct. 7.
The event will be held at the Blaisdell Hawaii Suites from 10:30 to 4:30 p.m., with a 9 a.m. early entry option.
Items 20 years and older will be featured on 91 tables with vendors from the mainland and Hawaii showcasing everything from garden antiques, shabby chic furniture, aloha shirts, beads, coins, stamps, koa calabases, niihau shell lei, items from Victorian and Mod eras and more.
Cost is $3.50; $2 for children ages 7 to 11; $15 early entry.
