Hawaii Pacific tops Northwood
Hawaii Pacific notched its first women's soccer victory of the season in a come-from-behind 4-3 effort against Northwood (Cedar Hill, Texas.)
The Sea Warriors' Vailama Walker sealed the win with her second goal of the match with just minutes to play.
Ashley Dolan and Jamie Hirai also scored for HPU (1-4).
The Knights, who got two goals from Alysia Kroger, fell to 2-4-1.
Balanay earns PacWest honors
Hawaii Pacific's Kelly Balanay earned Pacific West Conference Volleyball Player of the Week honors, the conference announced yesterday. Balanay led the Sea Warriors to a 2-1 record last week, averaging 2.79 kills and hitting .309 in the three matches.
Embry-Riddle riddles BYUH
Emrby-Riddle Aeronautical doubled up on Brigham Young-Hawaii in men's soccer yesterday, beating the Seasiders 4-2 in Prescott, Ariz.
The Seasiders nearly went into halftime with a scoreless tie, but Embry-Riddle scored just before the break. The game stayed within a goal until just before the end, when the Eagles scored to put it away.
The Seasiders open their PacWest schedule with a visit to Grand Canyon (Phoenix, Ariz.) today.
BYUH beats HPU in golf
Kyle Kunioka and Brandon Van Dyke each carded 76s on Turtle Bay's Fazio Course to lead Brigham Young-Hawaii over Hawaii Pacific 309 to 322 in men's golf yesterday.
It was the first dual match of the season for both teams.
