Moanalua Gardens group earns grant
The
Environmental Protection Agency awarded $30,000 to the
Moanalua Gardens Foundation for environmental education projects tailored to Hawaii's special environmental issues.
Winners in the 2007 Aloha Festivals Floral Parade Equestrian division: Governor's Award, Maui; President's Award, Molokai; Moi Award, Kauai; Ambassador's Award, Oahu. Special private mounted unit, Hawaii Women's Rodeo Association. Pooper Scooper Awards: Most Aloha Spirit, Niihau; Most Comical, Kahoolawe; Most Original, Maui. Hawaii Pau Riders Perpetual Trophy: Most Outstanding Pau Princess, Mele Apana. The John and Lita Cook Perpetual Trophy: Most Outstanding Pau Unit, Oahu; Most Outstanding Pooper Scooper Unit, Oahu. Pau Marshal, Kelly Liftee; Pau Queen, Beverly Cathy Kauilani Lee. Cindy Pa's Perpetual Trophy: Most Outstanding Page, Heavenly Cook-Kamake'eaina.
Rylan Tokioka, 16, of Waipahu, won the Aloha Tower Marketplace's second annual ukulele contest. Gabriel Goebbert of Kihei, Maui, won second place while Brandon Lacanaria of Waianae won third place.
