Patacchia and Sullivan advance

Pancho Sullivan and Fred Patacchia kept the Hawaii flame alive in the Boost Mobile Pro surf contest in San Clemente, Calif., yesterday.

Sullivan surfed past Ricky Bennett 14.50 to 11.73, and Patacchia beat Adrian Buchan 12.27 to 10.90 to advance to the fourth round of the ASP World Championship Tour event.

Brothers Andy and Bruce Irons of Hawaii weren't as fortunate. Jordy Smith defeated three-time world champion Andy Irons, while Rodrigo Dornelles eliminated Bruce Irons 16.77 to 9.77.

Cal Poly Pomona beats HPU in 4

Cal Poly Pomona defeated Hawaii Pacific 30-23, 30-28, 28-30, 30-26 in a volleyball match at Pomona, Calif., yesterday.

Kelley Balanay had 19 kills to lead the Sea Warriors (5-6).

No running water at Wahine match

Due to a water outage at Waipio Peninsula Soccer Park, the restrooms and concession stand will be closed for Hawaii's 7 p.m. soccer match against Duquesne today. Portable toilets will be available, according to UH's athletic department.
