The contributions of women are being celebrated artistically in "Legacy," the latest exhibit at the ARTS at Marks Garage, as part of the Fourth Annual GiRL FeST Hawaii.

The show, which features the works of artists from Hawaii and abroad, offers perspectives on women's history through art.

Artists were asked to create pieces based on a woman who affected them personally, professionally or politically. Subjects range from family members, prominent leaders, teachers and other important women in the lives of the contributors.

Artists include Meleanna Meyer, Katie Kamelamela, China Tamblyn, Alice Mizrachi, Kate Lopez-Chapman, Ed Greevy, Jennifer Thorbjornsen, Nikki Stevens and Mikioi Wichman.

"Legacy" runs through Oct. 6 at Marks Garage. The gallery, located at 1159 Nuuanu Ave., is open 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesdays to Saturdays. Call 521-2903 for more information.
