Max Bergmanis was one of 12 students to perform original compositions at the 2007 Yamaha Young Musicians Camp held in July in La Mirada, Calif. Max, 13, a student at Hawaii Yamaha Music School in Honolulu, performed his original piece, "Broadway Boogie," before a crowd of 400 at Biola University.

Movies opening Friday:
"3:10 to Yuma": The fall movie season kicks off with this Western remake directed by James Mangold ("Walk the Line"). Christian Bale plays a struggling rancher who agrees to help transfer a notorious outlaw (Russell Crowe) into the hands of authorities. The criminal tries to tempt the rancher with a sizable amount of money in exchange for his escape. (R)
"The Brothers Solomon": Will Arnett and Will Forte star as good-hearted but socially inept brothers trying to grant their dad's dying wish for a grandchild. (R)
"Goya's Ghosts": Veteran director Milos Forman tells a biographical tale through the eyes of the celebrated Spanish painter. The drama unfolds as Brother Lorenzo (Javier Bardem), an enigmatic member of the powerful Spanish clergy during the Inquisition, becomes infatuated with Goya's beautiful teenage muse, Ines (Natalie Portman). "Shoot 'Em Up": In this ramped-up action movie, Clive Owen stars as a mysterious loner who protects a woman (Monica Belucci) and her newborn baby from a hit man (Paul Giamatti) who was hired to kill her. (R)
