Faculty at Kapiolani Community College strut their stuff
MORE than 20 fine artists from Kapiolani Community College's art faculty display the diversity of their group in Koa Gallery's "2007 Faculty Biennial" show.
Works in traditional media such as painting, drawing, ceramics, sculpture and photography are joined by pieces created through contemporary technology: computer-generated works, animated shorts and photo collages.
Gallery director David Behlke says he's pleased with the show, noting that "sometimes our staff is overlooked by UH, but we've got great talent here."
Contributors include Behlke, Sean Browne, Adella Buss, Kim Chai, Kaili Chun, Kauka deSilva, Ailed Garcia, Chris Gargiulo, Norman Graffam, Jan Hathaway, Carl Jennings, Diana Jeon, Karen Jones, Kloe Kang, Solomon Kauinana, Kapulani Landgraf, Elizabeth Nekoa, Maya Portner, Chuck Souza, Cheryl Souza, Russell Sunabe, Sharon Sussman, Joseph Tremonti and Shuzo Uemoto.
The exhibit runs through Sept. 20; Koa Gallery is located on the KCC campus. Gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays to Fridays and until 2 p.m. Saturdays. Call 734-9374.
