T+L Golf readers think highly of courses in Hawaii
The readers of T+L Golf magazine have ranked Kapalua Resort and Princeville Resort among the magazine's U.S. Top Ten Golf Resorts. Yes, again.
Readers were invited to take an online survey between April 16 and June 9, which they could fill out only once.
The T+L Golf list ranks Kapalua at No. 4, with 98 of a possible 100 points, and Princeville at No. 6 with 96.5. Both moved up from last year's rankings.
Both Hawaii golf resorts have earned numerous top accolades in leading golf publications over the years and have many No. 1 rankings in various categories. The new T+L listing is no exception.
Online, T+L Golf offers lists of the Top 10 in the country (please see chart) and also groups top-rankers by region and category.
As in many travel-related publications, Hawaii is considered a region unto itself -- and, for at least the second consecutive year, T+L Golf shows the Hawaii region first.
The online page lists the top three winners in most categories, beginning with Best Golf Resorts, topped by Kapalua and Princeville, with the third-ranked Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea with 88.5 points.
The Best Resorts for Buddy Trips, according to the magazine, are Kapalua, Princeville and, at No. 3, the Grand Wailea Resort Hotel & Spa, with 92.5 points.
T+L Golf's Best Resort Courses here are the Plantation course at Kapalua, the Prince course at Princeville and the Gold course at Wailea Golf Club.
The Best Resorts for Family Trips list puts the Grand Wailea in the No. 1 spot with 97.5 points, followed by Kapalua with 96.5 and Kauai Marriott Resort & Beach Club with 95.5.
Only two Hawaii resorts appear on T+L Golf's Most Underrated Resorts list: the Kauai Marriott, with a whopping 99 of a possible 100 points, and Turtle Bay Resort, with 95.50.
The T+L Golf ranking is "great news for the Kapalua Resort and it shows that we continue to have a brand and experience that is recognized around the world," said Gary Planos, senior vice president of resort operations.
"I'm happy to see that T+L is recognizing the continual upgrading at Kapalua Resort, with our accommodations, restaurants and golf courses. And hopefully," he said, "the announcement of the LPGA coming to Kapalua in 2008 helps with this recognition."
