Kahuku again highlights OIA East
Five years have passed since the mantle of Oahu Interscholastic Association Red football championship has belonged to a school besides Kahuku.
In fact, Kahuku had a hand in nine of the last 10 crowns.
While the Red Raiders arrive in Utah after a drive from Las Vegas to battle Bingham this weekend, the rest of the Red East kicks off here. Though the Red Raiders' dominance is fact, they've been susceptible to upset losses from time to time.
An improved East could make the race very interesting this season.
Carter waived by NBA's Nuggets
Former University of Hawaii guard Anthony Carter has been waived by the Denver Nuggets, the team announced yesterday.
Carter played in two games for Denver last season as a late-season acquisition and scored eight points against the San Antonio Spurs in his only playoff appearance.
Ross top amateur in Chicago triathlon
Honolulu's Rachel Ross was the women's Elite Amateur champion Sunday in the Accenture Chicago Triathlon. More than 8,500 amateur and pro athletes participated.
Ross finished in 2 hours, 10 minutes, 33 seconds.
